What's the First Year of Business School Like?
In general, the first year of business school is exciting, but it can also be very stressful. Becoming familiar with professors, students, and academic subjects, you will be expected to absorb an incredible amount of material right from the get go.

If your chosen business school offers a core curriculum, you can expect to complete approximately 70% of the required coursework in the first year.

You’ll probably be enrolled in at least four core classes in the first term or trimester of the first year. All classes will last an average of two hours, and will take place twice per week, leaving a fifth day open for individual or group study.

Other First Year Activities
The first year of business school is mainly about academics (you will get into career prep in the second year). You will also benefit from participating in other activities.

Nearly all first year business schools focus on networking, and building relationships with fellow students. If you’re managing the workload well in the first year, you can consider taking electives that appeal to you, or participation in extracurricular activities.

Also consider first year business school students will want to aggressively pursue summer jobs and internships. In January, February, and March usually recruiting for summer positions occurs, but may begin as early as October of the previous year.

Your Second Year of Business School

What's the Second Year of Business School Like?

There’s a lot of difference between the second year of business school and the first. The workload is quite a bit lighter, and you have the advantage of knowing what is expected of you, and how long it takes you to complete class assignments and other requirements.

Have completed most of the core curriculum during the first year of business school. Everything has not been completed will need to be taken care of by the end of year two.

The second year business school students mastered the broad-base core curriculum will focus on taking elective classes in their area of specialization.

Other Year Two Activities
Most concerns felt in the second year of business school directly results from the need to find a job.
